DISCOVER LAKE ISEO AND MONTISOLA 

 

DESCRIPTION 

 

Lake Iseo and Montisola

Lake Iseo or  Sebino  is the fourth largest lake in Lombardy, Italy. There are several medieval towns around the lake, the largest being Iseo and Sarnico. 

The Franciacorta wine region, just minutes away from the lake produces some of the worlds finest sparkling wines. 

In the middle of the lake is the island of Monte Isola (or Montisola).

The shrine of Madonna della ceriola stands 600 metres (1,969 feet) above sea level, the highest spot on the island. It can only be reached by walking from the small village of Cure.

The fortress Martinengo can be reached from Menzino. It was built in the 15th century by Oldofredi and enlarged in the 16th century by Martinengo. 

 

ITINERARY

 

Day 1
Visit Torbiere Iseo park and the panoramic church of Monte Corno.

In the afternoon transfert to Montisola for the dinner and night. 
Day 2

Walk to the summit of Montisola to visit the santuary of "Madonna  of Ceriola".
